About the project

Fit Urban Plan is a responsive web app for location-based on the reviews of the users to recommend the best locations.

The problem

Nowadays people are realizing that being sportive is an important pillar in their life to avoid unhealthy routines, however in my interviews I discovered a pattern that people faced when searching for information on locations such as gyms and events to participate in. Looks like there is misinformation about locations or not enough.
The solution

A responsive web app where you can search in an interactive map the locations and active events planing near the user and shows the schedules of locations and each of the activities planned.

User Research

Who
People between young and middle age with the sport as a hobby people who love doing activities, or even people who try a new fitness journey or different activities outside of their routines.
How
By going to the recommended locations, and then they give their review on the app about the location. Finding new people with the same likes as them.
What
Commenting, sharing reviews and giving likes to other comments. Discover new locations with activities of interest near them. Also different types of research, a personalised one with filters.
When
In the morning or afternoon, when people have time to do sport. On weekends too.
Why
When they want to do a different sport, but they don't know where or what kind of activity to try. They will discover places of high quality as there will be reviews and can be trusted as other users give their opinions.
Where
Anywhere they feel to start an activity, outdoors or indoors ready to go out.
User Interview

Questions
-
How frequently do you do sport?

-
What do you use to try different sports routines?

-
What would motivate you to use a recommendation location app to find new activities or gyms?

-
What made you feel frustrated when you used a location recommendation app?

-
Have you ever used a location recommendation app for finding new gyms or sportive activities? Why?

-
What features do you think would be essential on a localisation recommendation app?
Patterns
As the majority of the participants didn’t use an app to go to the gym because of a lack of knowledge, marketing would be an important strategy for the success of the app.
It would be an important feature to have a wide rank of updated information and locations as like this users could have more interest to change their routine or start one.
To have an intuitive and interactive map in order to be successful.

Jobs To Be Done

When I am on the app and see a gym I like, I want to subscribe to a gym through the map, so I can go to the gym without doing some paperwork and can enter directly to work out.
When I finished an experience of the location, I want to share my opinion on the web so I go back to the web app and write a comment on the location, and left a review.
When I see an interesting location, I want to save it, so I can easily find it on my profile.
When I want to explore a new gym, event, or activity, I use the map, so I can see the different locations near my location.

Let the user participate in the events and activities of the locations or even pay directly for a gym subscription. The method of payment or booking will have an explanation on the app to avoid confusing users.
To be able to leave a review on a location is a function that will let the user share their opinion on the location.
The user can save the location in a list of favourites which they can access through the profile.
To be able of using a geolocation map to see locations near the user is a basic feature of this web app.

Usability testing

Goal
Objectives
Results
The goal of this test is to assess the ease of an intuitive recommend location-based app on a mobile device. I would like to observe the first-time users if they can complete some tasks such as looking for reviews, looking for a location using the interactive map, booking a location or saving it.
-
Can users easily find the save option?
-
Can users understand the flow of the app?
-
Can users easily book a location or event?
-
See if users find intuitive the app.
After the test, I found some issues with my designs, so using Jakob Nielsen’s error severity rating system I ranked the issues that I observed during the test and suggest some solutions.
